Zomato, a leading food delivery platform, has introduced India’s first “Large Order Fleet,” catering specifically to group or party events with up to 50 people. This innovative fleet, announced by Zomato’s Chief Executive Officer Deepinder Goyal, aims to enhance the experience of handling large orders and streamline delivery logistics.

The newly launched fleet is entirely electric, aligning with Zomato’s commitment to sustainable practices. Mr. Goyal expressed excitement about this development, stating, “Today, we are excited to introduce India’s first large order fleet, designed to handle all your large (group/party/event) orders with ease. This is an all electric fleet, designed specifically to serve orders for a gathering of up to 50 people.”

Previously, Zomato handled large orders through multiple delivery partners, leading to challenges in maintaining optimal customer experience. Mr. Goyal acknowledged these issues, noting, “Such large orders were earlier served by multiple regular fleet delivery partners, and the customer experience wasn’t what we really aspired for. These new vehicles should solve most of the problems our customers face while placing large orders on Zomato.”

He also mentioned ongoing enhancements to the fleet, such as cooling compartments and hot boxes with temperature control, ensuring that orders arrive fresh and in the desired condition.

Furthermore, Mr. Goyal emphasized Zomato’s focus on improving services for its community, stating, “We don’t build products and services to make money. We make money to build better products and services, so we can serve our communities better. This is one of such endeavors.”

This announcement follows Zomato’s recent introduction of the “Pure Veg Mode” service for customers with a 100% vegetarian dietary preference. While initially planning to have the large order fleet wear green uniforms and use green delivery boxes, Zomato faced criticism online, prompting a rollback of this decision due to concerns about potential implications, including accusations of modern-day casteism and inconvenience for non-vegetarian food orders.
