Vadodara Resident Loses ₹50 Lakh Audi and More to Flooding: ‘I’ve Lost Everything’

In a distressing incident highlighting the vulnerabilities of urban infrastructure, a Vadodara resident has reported the loss of three cars, including a ₹50 lakh Audi A6, due to severe waterlogging following heavy rainfall. The man, who lives in a 5BHK bungalow in a gated society in Vadodara, Gujarat, shared his ordeal on Reddit, expressing deep despair over the situation.

The heavy rainfall that lashed Vadodara overnight led to extensive waterlogging in the city, submerging the man’s three cars—an Audi A6, a Ford EcoSport, and a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz—under several feet of water. “There’s nothing left to live for anymore. All three cars are gone,” he wrote in a heartfelt post.

This incident marks the third time the man has suffered such a loss due to waterlogging. In his previous residential society, he lost two other cars to similar circumstances. Despite being parked inside his bungalow within the gated society, the cars were not spared from the flooding, which saw water levels reach 8 to 10 feet outside, making it impossible for any immediate towing or rescue efforts.

The heavy rainfall that caused the flooding brought 307 mm of rain to Vadodara between 6 am and midnight on Monday. The downpour led to widespread waterlogging across the city, with many areas and main roads submerged under knee-deep water, forcing residents to stay indoors.

As the city grapples with the aftermath of the heavy rains, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for improved urban infrastructure to prevent such devastating losses in the future.
