Ola Electric’s ‘End of ICE Age Event, Part I’ marked a significant milestone with the launch of affordable EV scooters and a glimpse of the highly anticipated super-sports EV motorcycle, Diamond Head. The event showcased Ola’s commitment to revolutionizing electric mobility in India.
Ola Electric, a pioneering name in the electric mobility sector, made waves at its ‘End of ICE Age Event, Part I’, as it unveiled an array of electric two-wheelers, solidifying its position in India’s burgeoning EV market. The event not only introduced affordable EV scooters but also tantalized enthusiasts with a sneak peek of the company’s super-sports electric motorcycle, Diamond Head.
The visionary behind Ola Electric, CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, addressed attendees and reflected on the remarkable growth of the two-wheeler EV market in India. He acknowledged the remarkable shift from less than 2 percent to over 20 percent penetration in just two years, attributing this transformation to the pioneering spirit of Indian customers embracing the EV revolution.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the Ola S1 X scooter, featuring two variants and a claimed range of 150 kilometers. The upgraded model boasted a lighter and more efficient battery pack, improved thermal performance, and enhanced safety features. Ola Electric also unveiled the MoveOS 4 update, set to launch in beta on September 15, along with the inauguration of 100 new customer service centers to enhance user experience.
Prices for the EV scooter lineup were also unveiled during the event. The Ola S1 Pro was announced at Rs 1,47,499, while the Ola S1 Air will be priced at Rs 1,19,999. The Ola S1 X+ was introduced at Rs 1,09,999, with a special introductory price of Rs 99,999 available until August 21. The Ola S1 X, priced at Rs 99,999, was launched with an introductory offer of Rs 89,999 until the same date. For the more budget-conscious, the Ola S1 X (2kw) would be available at Rs 89,999, with a limited-time introductory price of Rs 79,999.
CEO Bhavish Aggarwal seized the moment to emphasize the company’s achievements and underscored India’s pivotal role in the global EV revolution. He stated, “India’s EV revolution has just started, and we are at the Ground Zero of the EV revolution.” Aggarwal highlighted the economic and environmental benefits of embracing electric mobility, positioning technology as the driving force behind the revolution.
A major highlight was the unveiling of Ola Electric’s first lithium cell, signifying the company’s commitment to indigenous energy technology. Aggarwal demonstrated the power of the lithium cell by using it to light a diya on stage, hinting at its integration into vehicle upgrades from the following year.
Adding to the excitement, Ola Electric showcased a range of electric motorcycles, including the Cruiser, Adventure, and Roadster models. The ultimate showstopper, however, was the super-sports EV motorcycle, Diamond Head. Aggarwal introduced it as a global game-changer in the realm of super sports biking, solidifying India’s position as a hub for cutting-edge motorcycling technology.
