Nita Ambani delivered a poignant tribute to the late Ratan Tata during Reliance Industries’ annual Diwali dinner, honoring the esteemed industrialist as a “great son of India.” Her heartfelt remarks came in the wake of Tata’s passing on October 9, when he died in a Mumbai hospital after being admitted in critical condition.

In her speech, Nita Ambani reflected on Tata’s significant impact on both her family and the nation. She described him as a beloved family friend and a mentor to her son, Akash Ambani. “Four days ago, we lost a great son of India. The passing of Mr. Ratan Tata filled us all with immense grief. He was a dear friend of my father-in-law (Dhirubhai Ambani), of Mukesh (Ambani), and of our family. He was also a mentor to Akash,” she said, emphasizing Tata’s legacy as a “visionary industrialist and philanthropist who always strove for society’s greater good.”

The Ambani family, alongside Reliance leadership and thousands of employees, observed a minute of silence in memory of Tata. The emotional tribute resonated deeply, with social media reactions reflecting the public’s mourning for the iconic figure. Many expressed their sorrow, labeling him as a man “loved by all.” Comments such as “My tributes” and “RIP” flooded social media, with users sharing heartfelt emojis to honor his memory.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, also expressed his sadness over Tata’s death. He released a statement calling it a “very sad day for India and India Inc,” underscoring the profound loss felt not only by the Tata Group but by all Indians. “At a personal level, the passing of Ratan Tata has filled me with immense grief as I lost a dear friend,” he stated. “Each of my numerous interactions with him left me inspired and energized and enhanced my respect for the nobility of his character and the fine human values he embodied.”

Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, served as chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012 before retiring and becoming Chairman Emeritus. Following his death, Noel Naval Tata has been appointed as the new chairman of the Tata Group.
