“LPG Cylinder Prices Soar: Commercial Rates Up ₹100+, Domestic Unchanged”
The Oil Marketing Companies have raised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹101.5 per cylinder, marking the second consecutive hike, while 14.2 kg domestic cooking gas cylinder rates remain unaffected. Here are the latest rates and details on LPG pricing changes.
The price of commercial LPG cylinders has seen another hike of over ₹100 per cylinder, as announced by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) during their monthly price revision. Effective from November 1, the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will now cost ₹1,833, an increase from ₹1,731.5 in Delhi.
The latest price revisions also affect commercial LPG cylinder rates in other major cities across India, with the updated prices as follows:
- Chennai: ₹1,999.50
- Mumbai: ₹1,785.50
- Kolkata: ₹1,943
This marks the second consecutive increase in the price of commercial cylinders, following an increment of ₹209 per cylinder in October. However, in August and September, prices had been reduced by approximately ₹250. Monthly price revisions on the first day of each month have become a regular practice for both commercial and domestic LPG cylinders.
In contrast, the rates for 14.2 kg domestic cooking gas cylinders have remained unchanged. Presently, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is available at the following prices:
- Delhi: ₹903
- Kolkata: ₹929
- Mumbai: ₹902.50
- Chennai: ₹918.50
The last revision for domestic LPG cylinder prices occurred in August when they were reduced by ₹200 per cylinder. For beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the decrease in LPG cylinder prices totals ₹500—₹200 as a price cut and ₹200 as an existing subsidy, which the Union cabinet approved increasing from ₹200 to ₹300 per cylinder for approximately 96 million low-income households.
Beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana can purchase a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder at the following rates:
- Delhi: ₹603
- Kolkata: ₹629
- Mumbai: ₹602.50
- Chennai: ₹618.50
Notably, the Union cabinet had recently approved an additional 75 lakh new LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme, to be provided over the next three years, with a total cost of ₹1,650 crore.
State-owned oil giants, including the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), conduct cooking gas and ATF price revisions on the 1st of each month based on the average international prices in the previous month. These price fluctuations continue to impact households and businesses across the country.
