Hanooman: India’s Multilingual GenAI Assistant Empowers 98 Languages

India has stepped into the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation with the introduction of Hanooman, a groundbreaking GenAI platform designed to understand and communicate in an impressive 98 languages. Developed by SML India, in collaboration with 3AI Holding from Abu Dhabi, Hanooman is hailed as the country’s “largest multilingual and affordable GenAI platform,” catering to diverse linguistic needs, including 12 Indian languages like Hindi and Tamil.

Hanooman represents a significant leap in AI accessibility, particularly for non-English speakers in India. This platform, unlike many others, is not limited to English but encompasses a wide range of languages, reflecting the linguistic diversity of the Indian population.

The capabilities of Hanooman extend beyond language comprehension and response. It offers functionalities such as text generation, language translation, and the potential for creative content creation, paving the way for applications like natural conversational chatbots and efficient AI assistants for daily tasks.

Currently available for free through a web interface and Android app, Hanooman is set to launch an iOS version soon, with plans for a premium subscription model later in 2024. Vishnu Vardhan, Co-founder and CEO of SML India, envisions Hanooman impacting the lives of 200 million users within a year, emphasizing its support for Indian languages and the accessibility of AI technology.

Arjun Prasad, Managing Director of 3AI Holding, highlights Hanooman’s mission to democratize AI access, ensuring that it is not restricted to a privileged few but accessible to every Indian. The strategic partnership between SML India and 3AI Holding aims to make AI inclusive and available across diverse demographics, fostering innovation and contributing to the country’s growth.

At the launch event, SML India announced collaborations with industry leaders like HP, NASSCOM, and Yotta. Partnerships with NASSCOM are geared towards supporting AI startups, boosting fintech initiatives, engaging with colleges, and participating in research projects. Teaming up with Yotta will enhance SML India’s capabilities through robust GPU cloud systems, further advancing their AI solutions.

Hanooman’s debut marks a significant milestone in India’s AI landscape, promising transformative opportunities for individuals and businesses alike, while promoting linguistic inclusivity and technological advancement on a national scale.
