With its maiden flight from Goa’s Mopa to Agatti in Lakshadweep, FLY91 is poised to commence commercial operations from March 18, initially connecting Goa to Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Minister Scindia lauded the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing it to the emergence of six new regional airlines in the past decade. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing connectivity, Scindia underscored the significance of initiatives like the Udey Desh ka Aam Naagarik (UDAN) scheme, aimed at linking tier 2 and tier 3 cities. He also outlined ambitious targets for the domestic aviation sector, envisioning a surge in domestic air traffic to 30 crores by 2030.
FLY91, equipped with two ATR 72-600 aircraft, expressed confidence in expanding its fleet with an additional six planes within the next six months. Managing Director and CEO, Manoj Chacko, articulated the airline’s mission to democratize air travel and bolster regional connectivity, aligning with India’s economic transformation objectives.
Highlighting the airline’s leadership team, Chairman Harsha Raghavan echoed the sentiment of a historic milestone, emphasizing FLY91’s commitment to fostering widespread connectivity across the country. The airline’s vision encompasses linking airports nationwide, contributing to India’s aviation growth trajectory.
FLY91’s operational readiness was validated with the acquisition of an Air Operation Permit from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on March 6. With successful test flights completed, the airline is poised to launch services under the UDAN and Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), connecting Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded in Maharashtra, and Agatti in Lakshadweep.
As FLY91 embarks on its maiden journey, it heralds a new era in India’s aviation sector, promising enhanced accessibility, safety, and reliability in air travel, while bolstering economic growth and regional connectivity aspirations.
