“ED Conducts Raids in Five Cities Over Illegal Sale of Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh Concert Tickets”
In a significant crackdown on ticket fraud, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched investigations into the illegal sale of tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour and Diljit Dosanjh’s Dilluminati concert. Raids were conducted on October 25 across five major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore.
In a significant crackdown on ticket fraud, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched investigations into the illegal sale of tickets for Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour and Diljit Dosanjh’s Dilluminati concert. Raids were conducted on October 25 across five major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore.
The popular ticketing partners for these events, BookMyShow and Zomato Live, reported that tickets for both concerts sold out within minutes, raising suspicions of black marketing. Numerous complaints have surfaced regarding fraud involving fake tickets and the resale of legitimate tickets at exorbitant prices. In response, several First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged in various states, and BookMyShow has also filed complaints against potential suspects involved in these fraudulent activities.
The ED’s investigation is primarily focused on the money laundering aspect related to the illegal ticket sales. During the raids, officials seized various incriminating materials, including mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards. The investigation revealed that counterfeit tickets were being marketed through social media platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
The Coldplay concert is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, while Diljit Dosanjh’s Dilluminati tour is set to kick off in Delhi on October 26 and 27. After Delhi, Dosanjh will perform in several cities, including Jaipur on November 2, Hyderabad on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 17, and Lucknow on November 22, before concluding in Guwahati on December 29.
The ED’s operation aims to dismantle the financial networks that support these scams and trace the proceeds generated from such illegal activities, underscoring the government’s commitment to combatting ticket fraud in the entertainment industry.
