The video showcased Ford holding a bag of gifts from his employer, which included items such as a movie ticket, candy, pens, keychains, and a Starbucks cup. However, social media users noted that the gifts seemed modest given his exceptional dedication and suggested that he deserved greater recognition.
Ford’s story is deeply intertwined with his role as a father. He started working at Burger King 27 years ago when he gained custody of his two daughters as a single parent. As his family grew and he remarried, he continued his commitment to his job due to the comprehensive health insurance provided by the employer, which was made available through unionization. This insurance ensured that all four of his daughters were covered throughout their high school and college years.
Ford’s daughter shared on a GoFundMe page, “My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money, but if anyone feels like blessing him, he would love to visit his grandchildren.”
Thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity from well-wishers, Ford’s daughter mentioned that he was able to visit his grandchildren, a testament to the impact of community appreciation.
As of Thursday, the GoFundMe campaign for Kevin Ford has amassed more than $422,185, reflecting the admiration and gratitude for his dedication and resilience in his long-standing career at Burger King.
