Blast at Former MLA’s Residence in Kangpokpi District Claims Wife’s Life

According to police reports, Charubala, aged 59 and a member of the Meitei community, was engaged in cleaning the house and compound when the explosion took place. The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday as she was burning waste items within their residential compound.
Emergency services were promptly alerted, and Charubala was initially taken to the primary health center in Saikul. She was subsequently transferred to Kangpokpi district hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
No other casualties were reported in the incident. The former MLA filed a complaint at Saikul police station, and an investigation into the blast is currently underway. The exact cause of the explosion has yet to be determined by authorities.
