“₹42 Crores Found Hidden Under Bed in Bengaluru Home, Stirring Allegations of Election Funding Link”
In a startling revelation, a significant cache of over ₹42 crore in cash was discovered concealed beneath a bed in a residence in Bengaluru during Income Tax raids. Telangana’s Finance Minister, Harish Rao, has connected these findings to election funding, suggesting that the funds were intended to support the Congress election campaign in the state. This development adds a new dimension to the ongoing political narrative in the region, particularly with the upcoming Assembly polls in Telangana.
In a dramatic and eyebrow-raising turn of events, more than ₹42 crore in cash was unearthed concealed under a bed in a house in Bengaluru. The discovery unfolded following Income Tax raids on the residence of a former woman corporator and her husband.
The cache of cash, consisting of ₹500 denomination notes, was discovered in 22 boxes hidden under the bed in the early hours of the morning. Authorities promptly launched an investigation into the origins and intended use of these significant funds.
Remarkably, Telangana’s Finance Minister, Harish Rao, has interwoven these findings into the broader political landscape by suggesting a connection to election funding in his state. Rao alleged that the seized money was earmarked to support the Congress election campaign in Telangana, led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
“Their intention is to channel money into Telangana to secure victory in the upcoming election. They are even involved in ticket sales. However, their efforts will not be successful,” Harish Rao asserted.
BRS Working President K T Rama Rao also joined in, alleging that the Congress was pouring substantial funds into Telangana to influence votes in the upcoming Assembly polls.
This development comes in the wake of allegations made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public address in Nizamabad. Modi claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had financially supported Congress’ election campaigns in Karnataka, and now Karnataka was reciprocating by contributing funds to bolster the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana.
The upcoming Assembly polls in Telangana, scheduled for November 30, have heightened the political tensions in the state, and this substantial cash discovery intensifies the ongoing discourse.
The raids that led to this discovery primarily targeted Ashwathamma, her husband R Ambikapathy, their daughter, and Ashwathamma’s brother-in-law Pradeep, all residents of RT Nagar. R Ambikapathy holds the position of Vice President of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Contractors’ Association, which had previously accused the former BJP government of demanding a 40 percent commission on public projects.
Notably, these funds were reportedly intended to be transported from Bengaluru to Hyderabad via Chennai. The Income Tax Department initiated the raids based on received intelligence and reports of the hidden cash. Ashwathamma is believed to be the elder sister of former Congress MLA Akhand Srinivasamurthy.
This revelation underscores the intricacies of political funding and campaign strategies, raising questions about the potential influence of these sizable sums on the upcoming elections in Telangana. As investigations continue, the political landscape in the region remains vibrant and dynamic, with these findings adding new layers to the evolving narrative.
