“Zomato Ends ‘Legends’ Service After Two Years, Citing Market Challenges”

In a significant move, Zomato has officially discontinued its ‘Legends’ service, effective immediately. Launched with the ambitious goal of delivering food items from distant cities—such as dhoklas from Gujarat to customers in Delhi—the service faced challenges that led to its closure.

The ‘Legends’ service was briefly suspended in April 2024 before being relaunched as ‘Intercity Legends’ in July 2024. Despite increasing the minimum order value to ₹5,000 in an attempt to achieve profitability, the service struggled to find a sustainable market.

Zomato’s decision to shut down ‘Legends’ follows feedback from customers and market observations, highlighting the service’s inability to gain traction. Comments on social media, particularly from followers of Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, criticized the marketing approach and suggested that the service was not well-received by users.

Additionally, the company also discontinued ‘Zomato Xtreme,’ a hyperlocal goods delivery service launched a year ago, in July 2024. Intended to compete with companies like Shadowfax, Porter, and Loadshare in the intracity package delivery market, ‘Zomato Xtreme’ also struggled with low demand and failed to establish a significant presence in the market.

Zomato’s recent service discontinuations reflect the company’s efforts to streamline operations and focus on core areas that better align with customer needs and market demands.
