WhatsApp has unveiled the “WhatsApp Bharat Yatra,” a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering small businesses with the digital tools needed to thrive in the modern economy. This first-of-its-kind program will offer personalized, on-the-ground training to small businesses across India to help them leverage the platform for growth and customer engagement.

The initiative will kick off with a mobile bus tour in Delhi-NCR, visiting busy markets such as Laxmi Nagar, Rajouri Garden, and Nehru Place, where small businesses will receive interactive training sessions. The bus will continue its journey through key business hubs in Haryana’s Gurugram, Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, and expand to other cities like Agra, Lucknow, Indore, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. During the tour, businesses will have the opportunity to learn how to set up a WhatsApp Business Profile, create catalogs, and run targeted advertisements to boost sales.

Ravi Garg, Director of Business Messaging at Meta India, emphasized the importance of small businesses in India’s economy. He stated, “Small businesses are the backbone of India’s economy. With the right digital tools, they can drive India’s digital transformation. The WhatsApp Bharat Yatra is our way of supporting these businesses with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age.”

The WhatsApp Bharat Yatra is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to assist small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in India. This initiative builds on previous programs like ‘WhatsApp Se Vyapaar’ and collaborations with strategic partners. In addition to this new tour, WhatsApp has introduced updates for small businesses, including Meta Verified for credibility, custom messaging features, and AI-powered tools to enhance customer interactions.

Through the WhatsApp Bharat Yatra, WhatsApp is taking a hands-on approach to directly address the digital needs of small businesses, aiming for a long-lasting impact on India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. With this initiative, WhatsApp hopes to equip businesses with the tools they need to succeed in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
