In a bid to rejuvenate the struggling firm, Paytm’s founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma is reportedly reaching out to former executives of the company, including Renu Satti, Kiran Vasireddy, and Nehul Malhotra, among others. This move comes as Sharma aims to take direct charge of each business vertical within the company.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, talks with Vasireddy and Malhotra have already been initiated, with a focus on potentially leading the user growth initiative at Paytm. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Sharma is actively engaging with his close aides to rebuild the entire team.

However, Paytm responded to these reports, calling them speculative. The company emphasized its focus on promoting high-performing talent into leadership roles and strengthening internal leadership through robust succession planning. A spokesperson for Paytm stated, “We have not reached out to nor are we in discussions with former executives.”

Paytm has faced challenges recently, including a loss of market share in the UPI segment and a decline in share price following restrictions imposed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL).

The report also highlighted Sharma’s strategic efforts to take control of various verticals within Paytm, with the goal of boosting growth, reducing customer attrition, and instilling confidence among partners, merchants, and customers.
