Article: Mahindra Scorpio, one of the best-selling SUVs in India, has recently reached a significant milestone by rolling off 9 lakh units since its introduction in 2002. The popular SUV has garnered immense success in the Indian market, thanks to its ladder frame platform, exceptional off-road capabilities, practicality, massive road presence, and commanding seat ergonomics.

The journey to success for the Mahindra Scorpio began when the first-generation model was launched back in 2001. It was a challenging project for Mahindra to create a highly capable ladder frame SUV within a budget of under 600 crores. The introduction of the Scorpio-N has contributed significantly to the year-on-year growth of the company’s sales for FY2023, with a remarkable increase of 99%.

In FY2023, Mahindra Scorpio achieved a total sales figure of 76,935 units, showcasing a substantial YoY growth of 99%. In the first two months of FY2024, the SUV maker sold an impressive 18,835 units of the Scorpio. Notably, in May 2023, the sales of the Scorpio played a vital role in the overall sales of the company, contributing to a remarkable YoY growth of 114.31%.

Looking back at the previous year, Mahindra initiated bookings for the Scorpio-N in July 2022, which resulted in a remarkable feat as it garnered 1 lakh bookings within just 30 minutes. Deliveries of the Scorpio-N began in September 2022, and the SUV quickly became the preferred choice among the audience.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N stands as a powerful SUV from the Indian automaker, built on a new ladder frame platform shared with the new Thar and upcoming Thar 5-door. With its muscular and robust silhouette, the Scorpio-N commands attention on the road and boasts a commendable 5-star safety rating. Highlighted features include alloys, LED headlights and taillights, a new grille, and a revamped steering wheel.

Comfort creature features in the Scorpio-N include a sunroof, roof-mounted speakers, auto AC, infotainment system, and an analog instrument cluster. Mechanically, the Scorpio-N offers two engine options: the 2.0L M-Stallion turbo petrol and the 2.2L M-hawk diesel engines. The former delivers 200 PS and 370-380 Nm of torque, while the latter generates 130-172 HP and 300-400 Nm of output. Customers can choose from 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, as well as 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options. The price range for the Scorpio-N starts at Rs. 13.05 Lakhs and goes up to Rs. 24.52 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
