“Telecom Regulator Clarifies: No Charges for Multiple SIM Cards”

In response to recent claims circulating in the media, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has clarified that there will be no charges imposed on customers holding multiple SIM cards or numbering resources. The TRAI labeled these claims as false and baseless, aiming only to mislead the public.

In response to recent claims circulating in the media, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has clarified that there will be no charges imposed on customers holding multiple SIM cards or numbering resources. The TRAI labeled these claims as false and baseless, aiming only to mislead the public.

The clarification comes after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) sought recommendations from TRAI regarding the revised National Numbering Plan to manage and utilize numbering resources efficiently in the country. TRAI issued a Consultation Paper (CP) on the revision of the National Numbering Plan (NNP) to assess factors affecting the allocation and utilization of telecommunication identifiers (TI) resources.

TRAI emphasized its stance on minimal regulatory intervention, promoting forbearance, and self-regulation of market forces. The telecom regulator vehemently denied any validity to the spurious conjectures surrounding the consultation paper, condemning the spread of misleading information.

The TRAI urged stakeholders and the public to refer to its official press release and consultation paper on its website for accurate information regarding the matter.
