The announcement was made by Girish Menon, Chief Human Resource Officer at Swiggy, who highlighted the company’s commitment to inclusivity and support for employees in various aspects of their lives. The ‘Paw-ternity’ policy is an extension of Swiggy’s existing gender-neutral parental policy introduced in 2020, which offers substantial paid leave and other benefits for primary and secondary caregivers, as well as for adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, and IVF.
Under the new ‘Paw-ternity’ policy, full-time employees at Swiggy will enjoy several benefits:
- Additional Paid Day Off: Employees will receive an extra paid day off when they welcome a new pet into their family through adoption or otherwise.
- Work-From-Home Option: Employees can opt for a work-from-home arrangement for a few days to provide comfort and support to their new furry family member.
- Flexible Leave Usage: Employees can use their casual or sick leave without hesitation to attend to the needs of their pets, ensuring they can prioritize their pet’s well-being.
- Bereavement Leave: In the unfortunate event of a pet’s passing, employees can apply for bereavement leave to grieve and cope with their loss.
Swiggy emphasized its recognition of the indispensable role pets play in the lives of its employees and expressed dedication to supporting them in every aspect of their journey, including pet care.
