Five Books at 23, 200+ Literary Achievements, and a Growing National Presence

At just 23, Ms. Reshel Bretny Fernandes has already created a remarkable space for herself in the world of Indian literature and public speaking. A young author, orator, and emerging literary voice, Reshel has published five books and achieved more than 200 milestones across literary and academic platforms.

The daughter of teachers Mr. Ronald and Mrs. Nancy Fernandes, Reshel’s journey reflects a strong foundation in education, discipline, and curiosity. She completed her schooling at DPS MRPL, Mangalore, and secured State 7th Rank and District First Rank in the Arts stream at Ladyhill Victoria PU College.

She went on to pursue a B.A. in Hindi from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha and a general B.A. in History, Economics and Political Science from Sri Mahaveera College, Moodbidri, securing 2nd rank in Mangalore University. She is currently pursuing her final year of LL.B. at S.D.M. Law College, Mangalore.

From Ideas to Books

For Reshel, writing is a way to engage with the questions shaping India’s present and future.

Her first book, Essays on Collective Topics, marked the beginning of her literary journey. In 2024, she published Bharat @2047: Role of Youth, focusing on the role and responsibilities of India’s younger generation in the journey toward 2047.

The book received significant recognition, including the Author of New Era Award, Rabindranath Tagore Book Award, and International Kalam Award.

Her literary work continued in 2025 with books including Light of Education Brightens World and Environment: Bond of Coexistence, exploring education and environmental responsibility.

She also authored Surajya: Good Governance, Wheel of Democracy, dedicated to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, further reflecting her interest in governance, democracy, and nation-building.

A Writer With a Purpose

Reshel’s writing frequently explores subjects such as India’s development, youth, education, the freedom movement, democracy, and the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Beyond books, she has actively participated in youth parliaments and various literary and social initiatives. She is associated with organisations including Disha Bharat, Samartha Bharata, and Thinkers Forum, and is also an active member of ABVP.

Her work has been featured across 200+ national and international media platforms, including publications such as Empowered Pen, Author of New Era, Authors of India, and Literature Today International Magazine, which has highlighted her as a young voice of India.

Her literary journey has earned her several honours, including the Bharatiya Sahitya Sanman, Indian Icon Award, Pride of India, National Youth Inspiration Award, Yuva Prerana Award, Kittur Rani Chennamma Award 2025, National Icon Award, Bharat Shree Award, Veer Savarkar National Award, Desh Ratna Award 2025, and Tagore Sahitya Sanman.

Her work has also received appreciation from various public figures and institutions, adding to the growing recognition of her contribution to literature and youth discourse.
