Sahil Singh, a Mumbai man who once worked as a Swiggy delivery agent, has become an inspiration for many with his remarkable transition from delivering food to walking the fashion runway. Singh’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a professional model is a testament to perseverance and determination.
In a candid video shared on social media, Singh revealed that he spent two years working as a delivery agent for Swiggy, followed by a year as a chef at Burger King. He also held a job at Mango Mart for eight months before securing his first modeling assignment. The video was captioned, “Delivery boy to sales executive to MODEL,” highlighting the remarkable progression of his career.
Singh, who dropped out of school to support himself, said he worked several odd jobs to make ends meet, earning between ₹18,000 and ₹22,000 per month as a Swiggy delivery agent. Despite the financial stability these jobs provided, Singh never lost sight of his dream to become a model, a goal he set for himself after seeing a poster of a model in 2009.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Singh shared that it took years of effort and persistence to break into the fashion industry. “I saw a poster of a model in 2009. I knew then that this was what I wanted to do. At that time, I was selling wallets on the roadside. Since 2017, I have been gathering knowledge on how I can break into the industry,” he said. Singh revealed that he had gone through nearly 200 auditions before finally being selected by Streax to walk the ramp in 2023.
Despite his success, Singh remains open about the challenges he faced. He acknowledged that his height, 5 feet 10 inches, is considered on the shorter side for male models in India. Even with Streax, he had to persuade the organizers to let him walk the ramp, which they agreed to on the condition that he wear heels.
Beyond his own modeling career, Singh is committed to helping others in the industry. He regularly shares tips and tricks on his social media accounts, offering advice on men’s grooming, styling, and how to secure modeling gigs. In one of his videos, Singh emphasized the importance of networking in the modeling industry. He advised newcomers to build relationships with photographers, stylists, designers, and studio professionals, suggesting that they reach out to these individuals via social media or email to increase their chances of landing jobs.
Sahil Singh’s story is a powerful reminder that with hard work and persistence, even the most ambitious dreams can be realized. His journey from a delivery agent to a fashion model continues to inspire many who are striving to achieve their own goals.
