Tata Motors’ indigenous Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs), the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier, have achieved a groundbreaking milestone by securing the highest five-star ratings in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP), an independent safety evaluation protocol in India. These two vehicles mark the inaugural recipients of the highest ratings for both adult occupant protection and child occupant protection under this new assessment system.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, lauded Tata Motors for this remarkable accomplishment. Praising Bharat-NCAP as India’s independent voice on vehicle safety, Gadkari emphasized its alignment with global safety standards, surpassing mandatory regulations to advance road and vehicle safety.

Expressing delight, Gadkari highlighted Tata Motors’ pioneering status, stating, “I’m delighted that the first-ever vehicles being certified today with the highest achievable 5-star rating are both from Tata Motors.” He congratulated the company for upholding its legacy of introducing the safest vehicles on Indian roads.

Bharat NCAP officially shared the outstanding results for the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier, acknowledging their exceptional performance in frontal, side, and pole side impact tests. The agency’s announcement reinforced the strides made in implementing global safety standards in India.

This accolade comes after Bharat-NCAP’s recent commitment to release safety ratings for the initial batch of vehicles evaluated since its establishment earlier this year. The testing body conducted rigorous evaluations earlier this month, emphasizing the significance of safety in Indian-made cars.

Notably, Bharat-NCAP stands among a select few countries globally, including the United States, China, South Korea, and Japan, that possess their own vehicle testing systems.

Gadkari shared a momentous occasion when he presented the certification to Tata Group officials, hailing this achievement as a testament to their commitment to consumer welfare and excellence in vehicle safety.

The Tata Safari and Tata Harrier’s feat in achieving the highest safety ratings underscores Tata Motors’ dedication to setting new benchmarks in vehicle safety, paving the way for enhanced safety standards across the automotive industry in India.
