A recent analysis by the Republican National Committee has revealed that President Joe Biden has spent a significant portion of his presidency on vacation. According to the data, Biden, who has been in office for less than four years, has taken 532 vacation days, accounting for approximately 40% of his time as President.

This figure represents a substantial amount of time away from the White House, surpassing the vacation time typically allotted to the average American worker over nearly five decades. With the average American receiving 11 vacation days per year, Biden’s total equates to roughly 48 years’ worth of vacation days for the average citizen.

The extensive vacation time has sparked criticism from various quarters, particularly amid ongoing global and domestic challenges. Mark Paoletta, former general counsel of the White House budget office under President Donald Trump, commented, “The image of Biden fast asleep and lying flat on his back in his chair at the beach while America and the world is on fire will define the Biden presidency,” as reported by the NY Post.

Critics have pointed to pressing issues such as inflation, border security, and international conflicts, arguing that the President should focus more on these challenges rather than taking frequent breaks. However, Biden’s aides emphasize that, similar to his predecessors, the President remains engaged with his duties and works remotely while on vacation. Despite this, there are concerns about the frequency and length of his time off.

Comparing Biden’s vacation time to previous Presidents reveals a notable difference. Former President Donald Trump spent approximately 26% of his presidency on personal trips, while Biden’s 40% out-of-office ratio exceeds that. In contrast, Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama vacationed for about 11% of their respective two-term presidencies. Jimmy Carter, who served a single term, took only 79 days off.
