A recent incident aboard an IndiGo flight from Pune to Nagpur sparked outrage on social media after a passenger, Subrat Patnaik, discovered a missing seat cushion and shared the photo on X (formerly Twitter). The image, depicting the absence of the cushion at seat number 10A on flight number 6E 6798, garnered attention, leading to criticisms of the low-cost airline’s service.

Mr. Patnaik’s post captioned with “#Indigo !! #Flight 6E 6798 !! Seat no 10A ! Pune to Nagpur!!! Today’s status … Best way to increase profit…Pathetic,” prompted a backlash from other users, highlighting concerns about the airline’s standards.

Amidst the online uproar, IndiGo responded to Mr. Patnaik’s post, apologizing for the inconvenience and offering an explanation. The airline acknowledged that occasionally, seat cushions may dislodge from their Velcro and assured that the crew could rectify such issues. They also committed to sharing the feedback with the relevant team for review to enhance future services.

This isn’t the first time IndiGo has faced scrutiny. Previously, actors Pooja Hegde and Rana Daggubati had voiced dissatisfaction with the airline’s services. Mr. Daggubati lamented about his missing luggage and flight scheduling issues, while Ms. Hegde criticized the airline staff’s demeanor.

In a separate incident in 2021, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) imposed a fine of ₹ 5 lakh on IndiGo for denying a boy with special needs from boarding a flight in Ranchi.
