Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, an icon in the Indian entertainment industry, announced his latest venture as the owner of the Mumbai team in the upcoming Indian Street Premier League (ISPL). This groundbreaking cricket tournament, India’s first tennis ball T10 cricket event held within a stadium, promises a unique sporting spectacle, according to an official press release.

Scheduled for its inaugural edition from March 2 to March 9 in Mumbai, the ISPL aims to bring high-intensity cricket to the forefront, featuring a lineup of six teams – Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar – set to compete in 19 thrilling matches.

Expressing his enthusiasm for this new endeavor, Bachchan shared his excitement in a blog post, calling his association with the league a fresh chapter in his journey. The 81-year-old actor expressed his privilege in being appointed as the Team Owner for Mumbai, remarking on the burgeoning talent and prospects within the league.

“A new day.. and a new enterprise.. For me, an honor and a privilege to be with Mumbai as Team Owner, and to be privy to the surge of talent erupt,” Bachchan wrote.

Describing the ISPL as an innovative and commendable initiative, Bachchan lauded the platform as an opportunity for aspiring cricket talents. He emphasized the league’s significance in providing a professional platform for those who once exhibited their skills on the streets and makeshift cricket pitches.

“An opportunity for them that exhibited their capacity on the streets, gullies, and makeshift home-made pitches to play cricket, now to get selected for a team professionally,” he mentioned in his blog, highlighting the transition from grassroots cricket to a global stage.

Joining a league of Bollywood personalities invested in this venture, Bachchan follows the recent announcements of actors Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan as team owners of Srinagar and Bengaluru, respectively.

As Bachchan embarks on this new journey in sports ownership, his association with the ISPL promises an exciting chapter for Mumbai cricket and a platform for emerging talent to shine on a national stage.
