“No Need to Work Until 3 AM”: Swiggy CEO Takes a Stand Against “Hustle Culture”

Swiggy Food and Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor has taken a stand against the toxic “hustle culture” that has permeated various industries, emphasizing the need for a healthy work-life balance. Speaking at Techsparks, an event held in Bengaluru, Kapoor highlighted the detrimental effects of relentless work habits on both mental and physical health.

During his conversation with Shradha Sharma, Kapoor urged employees to prioritize family time and avoid unnecessary late-night work. “You don’t need to hustle and work till 3 am,” he asserted, dismissing the glorification of late-night work hours. He remarked, “Those who say they work till 3 am never mention that they reach the office by 1 pm the next day,” criticizing the culture of boasting about extreme work schedules. “It’s bullsh*t,” he added candidly.

While acknowledging the importance of hard work, Kapoor stressed that pushing oneself to extreme limits is unsustainable. “Some days, you need to work late but not daily,” he noted, underscoring that sacrificing personal life for professional success is not a viable path. “Ghar jao [Go home],” he advised, encouraging a shift in mindset towards valuing personal time.
