Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, has revealed his plans to retire at the age of 70 and has shared his comprehensive succession strategy for his $213 billion business empire. In an interview with Bloomberg, Adani disclosed that his succession planning began nearly a decade ago and involves a structured transition to the next generation of his family.

Adani’s sons, Karan (37) and Jeet (26), along with their cousins Pranav (45) and Sagar (30), are set to play crucial roles in the future of the conglomerate. Each of them will hold an equal stake in the family trust, ensuring a balanced distribution of power and responsibility.

“I am happy that all of them are hungry for growth, which is not common in the second generation,” Adani noted. The second-generation leaders are already actively involved in the company’s operations. Karan Adani is responsible for overseeing businesses in cement, ports, and logistics. Jeet Adani manages India’s largest network of privately operated airports, as well as the group’s defense and digital sectors. Pranav Adani, who joined the group in 1999, leads the agro and oil sectors, while Sagar Adani handles the energy and finance divisions.

Adani emphasized the importance of a gradual and systematic transition. “Succession is very, very important for business sustainability,” he stated. The approach aims to ensure that the transition of leadership is both organic and effective, aligning with the group’s long-term vision.
