The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released drone footage capturing the last moments of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar. In the video, Sinwar is seen sitting on a couch, surrounded by rubble in a damaged house, throwing an object at the drone. Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Sinwar, whom he called a “mass murderer,” was eliminated by IDF soldiers in response to his role in orchestrating the October 7 massacre.

Sinwar, the mastermind behind the deadliest attack in Israeli history, was held responsible for leading Hamas fighters into Israel, resulting in over 1,200 deaths, most of whom were civilians. The attack included home invasions, massacres, and the abduction of over 250 hostages. As of now, 101 hostages remain in captivity in Gaza.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the IDF, stated in a video message that Sinwar’s death is a significant blow to Hamas. He reiterated Israel’s commitment to targeting Hamas leaders, not the people of Gaza, and vowed to continue delivering humanitarian aid to civilians in the region. Hagari also expressed condolences to the families affected by Sinwar’s actions and praised the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defending Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also addressed Sinwar’s elimination, calling it an “important landmark” in Israel’s war against Hamas and vowing to crush the militant group. He emphasized that while this is not the end of the conflict, it marks “the beginning of the end” for Hamas.

Sinwar had been accused of orchestrating the brutal October 7 attack, which saw Israeli civilians killed, women raped, and entire families burned alive, leading to one of the darkest chapters in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Netanyahu reaffirmed that the IDF would continue operations until all hostages are returned and the mission to secure Israel is completed.

The death of Yahya Sinwar, who had been hiding behind civilians in Gaza, is seen as a pivotal moment in Israel’s efforts to dismantle Hamas and restore security to the region.
