Ashoka Group of Schools empowers young footballers through international exposure and cross-cultural learning in Budapest.
In a significant leap toward global sports integration and youth development, 12 student-athletes from the Ashoka Group of Schools in Nashik recently returned from an inspiring international football tour in Budapest, Hungary. Held from May 18th to 25th, 2025, the week-long journey was designed to provide a rich blend of competitive experience and educational exploration in sports.
The Under-16 Boys football team, under the leadership of Mr. Nagesh Rajmane, Head of the Sports Department at Ashoka Universal School, participated in a series of friendly matches against local Hungarian football clubs. Organized in collaboration with the Budapest Sports Association, the initiative was driven by Dr. Dinesh Sabnis, Assistant General Manager Sports & Activities, Ashoka Group of Schools.
Beyond competition, the students embraced a broader learning curve. A visit to the prestigious Sports University in Budapest opened doors to a wide range of career opportunities in global sports. From advanced coaching methods to insights into sports science, students were immersed in a holistic sports education experience.
The players also attended a mentor-led session with internationally certified coaches from Hungary and Bulgaria. These experts provided one-on-one feedback, shared modern football tactics, and motivated the young athletes to pursue excellence beyond local boundaries.
The highlight of the tour came during an international Football League Tournament, where the Ashoka team competed against three other global squads. With immense dedication and sportsmanship, the team clinched 3rd place an impressive feat for their debut on such a competitive international stage.
Dr. Dinesh Sabnis shared, “This journey wasn’t just about the game. It was about creating pathways for global exposure, cultural exchange, and nurturing the mindset of future sports leaders.”
This landmark initiative is a testament to Ashoka Group of Schools’ growing emphasis on global citizenship, offering its students not just academic growth but also real-world experiences that inspire purpose and ambition.
