A Healer in Rhythm: Komal Shah Nominated for Padma Shri
Komal Shah, a well-known classical dancer and founder of the Natya Therapy Institute of Vedic Arts, has been nominated for the Padma Shri Award. This nomination is a recognition of her unique work that brings together Indian classical dance and healing.
With a Master’s degree in Performing Arts (Kathak) and a deep background in Bharatanatyam, Komal has performed across the world, sharing the beauty of India’s cultural traditions. But for her, dance is more than just performance – it is a way to heal, connect, and transform.
Through her own method called Natya Therapy, Komal blends dance, music, breathing techniques, and affirmations to support emotional and physical well-being. Her work has touched many lives, especially children with autism, learning challenges, and special needs. Her programs in Israel have received wide appreciation, including a personal letter of thanks from the Israel Consul General.

Over the years, Komal has received several awards such as the Gujarat ka Gaurav Award and the Rashtra Pratibha Samman 2025. These honors highlight the impact of her work not just in India, but around the world.
Her Padma Shri nomination is a proud moment – not only for Komal, but for all those who believe in the power of art to heal and bring change. Through her workshops and outreach, she continues to inspire people to see classical dance not just as movement, but as a journey toward inner peace and self-discovery.
