Ask an IGCSE student where their study material lives and you’ll usually get a shrug.

Past papers sit in a Downloads folder, mostly unopened. Mark schemes are on a different site. Revision notes came from a senior two years ago and cover a syllabus that has since changed. Shambhavi and Priyanshu Raj built UnboundYou because that scattering costs students far more than anyone accounts for. Hours go into sorting material rather than studying it. Their answer was to put the whole thing in one place, built around a single principle: one student, one mentor.

The research nobody acted on

In the 1980s, educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom found that a student taught one-to-one, moving forward only once they had properly understood each topic, ended up ahead of roughly 98% of students learning the same content in a conventional classroom.

The finding was never seriously contested. It was simply written off as impossible to deliver. One tutor per student does not multiply.

UnboundYou’s founders took the view that the constraint had become solvable, and that IGCSE students in particular were paying for everyone else’s assumption that it hadn’t. Mentors are difficult to get hired. The company accepts fewer than 1% of applicants and weights heavily toward educators who have taught Cambridge curricula for years. Exam technique guides sit alongside them, and parents tend to underrate these. A significant share of lost marks in IGCSE science is not a knowledge problem. Students read “explain” and write a description, or give one mark’s worth of detail to a three-mark question. Correcting that is quick, and for many students it is worth a grade.

Between lessons, students get guided support on homework, coursework and assignments, with the emphasis on working through the reasoning themselves. In the exam hall they will be alone with the question, and handed answers do not survive that.

UnboundYou teaches grades 6 to 12 across IGCSE, GCSE, A-Levels, IB (MYP and DP), ICSE and CBSE.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology are offered for CIE and Edexcel. Mathematics and English cover CIE, Edexcel and Oxford AQA. French is available for CIE and Edexcel, ICT for CIE 0417, and Computer Science for CIE 0478 and Edexcel.

Board differences are not cosmetic. CIE and Edexcel structure papers differently, weight topics differently and assess differently, so material built for one is often subtly wrong for the other. Every mentor and every practice paper is matched to the student’s specific board and variant.
