Akshay Sharma: The Man Who Turned Dreams into Destiny
Akshay Sharma is not just an Author, Actor, Composer, or Entrepreneur — he is a living story of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride. His journey begins long before his birth, rooted in the legacy of his forefathers, Hindustani classical musicians from northern India whose tradition dated back to 1925. Though raised in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Akshay carried this musical inheritance within him, a silent rhythm waiting to find its voice.
During his school and college years in Coimbatore, Akshay taught himself music, aspiring to become a music director and carry forward his grandfather’s dream. Engineering, however, took him down a different path. While he filled notebooks with tunes during his college days, circumstances in 2013 forced him to set his musical ambitions aside. What followed was a career as an electrical engineer, first in a steel plant in Odisha and later with a German company on global projects. Yet, behind the success and security, his creative soul remained restless.
In a bold step that few dare to take, Akshay left his job and chose passion over stability. Out of this leap was born The Flying Dreams, his debut book released on October 4, 2018. Written over five years, the book became a phenomenon, touching lakhs of readers and making waves in cinema, politics, and the business world. It was proof that the silence of an abandoned dream could still give birth to something extraordinary. His books have also reached the hands of more than 100 eminent personalities — from Shri Amitabh Bachchan to celebrated actors, politicians, industrialists, and thought leaders — making his words resonate across the highest circles of influence.
Akshay’s vision was never limited to his own success. In 2019, he founded Mark-Fly, which soon evolved into Mark-Fly Publishers™️, a platform giving space to emerging and established authors alike. The idea expanded in 2020 with the launch of the Coimbatore Literary Awards, now CLA Global Awards, a movement that has celebrated writers worldwide and reached millions. This growth came despite immense personal challenges — the collapse of his family’s business, his father’s deteriorating health after Covid, and financial struggles that tested his will. Yet, with his sister’s constant support and his own determination, Akshay transformed hardships into steppingstones.
The world of cinema soon embraced him. He worked as an executive producer for Bhai Sleeper Cell in 2021 and later appeared as an actor in the Tamil blockbuster Pathu Thala. His musical journey, once put on hold, also reignited with original compositions that found listeners across the globe. Parallel to this, his voice as a speaker became louder; since 2018 he has delivered over 150 talks at universities, literature festivals, and corporate forums, including appearances at IIM-Kozhikode and IIT-BHU. He has presented awards to over a thousand achievers at prestigious events such as SIWAA, AIWAA, and SIBA. His recognition peaked in 2024 when his face lit up Times Square alongside the launch of his second novel, A Writer on a Mission: The Rise of Astraavan, which went on to become an international bestseller, now available in over 30 countries.
Today, Akshay Sharma is celebrated as a cultural icon, a man who embodies the rare blend of literature, cinema, and music. Fluent in Tamil and English, conversant in Hindi, and familiar with other Indian languages, he bridges diverse cultures with ease. His upcoming book, designed as a movement for social change, is expected to merge the worlds of literature and music in a way that inspires generations.
From abandoned notes in an engineer’s diary to bestselling novels on international shelves, from Coimbatore to the billboards of Times Square, Akshay Sharma’s life is a melody of perseverance and passion. He stands as proof that no dream is ever truly lost — it simply waits for the courage to bring it alive.
